The turn of the 14th and 15th century was not really exciting. The European continent was plagued by series of ongoing 100Year war, papal schism, and ongoing economic crisis. Around 1395-1397 many European countries experienced currency crises, which led to devaluation of their currency and decrease of silver content in the coinage. The same time it was a period when Europe also had a break from plague that was permanently affecting the population. After Black Death around 1350, plague had returned in 1360 and again 1380, but with lesser severity. Due ongoing economic crises, the international trade had collapsed, which limited the spread of the disease and I am not aware of significant plague outbreaks until much later period of the 15th century. What would be considered exciting was ongoing intellectual debate about papacy and the role of the church in the society. Since the great plague hit Europe, people were less afraid to speak about church abuses and failing of church to provide answer and spiritual guidance. Around 1400 there were many open intellectual revolts against the church authority across Europe from Wycliffe in England to John Hus in Bohemia. Church stopped to be all powerful and fearful institution.

Don't change a thing about how the game is played. I like the idea of instituing fines for diving and having the league review replays to see divers, though.

Any new attractions since then, other than Waitomo Caves, Rotorua mud pools, Queenstown? People still friendly even to hitch-hikers?
Are there many good campsites? Would like to revisit but don't really know when and where is best?

Thanks for your time and kindness, and best wishes from a South-East Asian!

I don't know why, but I think their names should be Tanto (TOHNtow) and Tito. (Via Wikipedia: Tanto: a fixed-blade knife of Japanese ogirin, i.e., a Japanese squirrel warrior. It fits).

This is something I have been tkihning through a bit lately. Faced with the reality that next year my youngest child will be heading off to pebbles (pre-school) one day a week, a lot of people have been asking me what I plan to do with that one childless day. In some ways it would be nice to be able to clean the house and have it stay that way for longer than half an hour or to be able to do my grocery shopping un-assisted, but I'm not convinced that is the best use of my time. I have been tkihning about using that time to catch up with other women and possibly read the bible with them, but I also don't want to cram too much into that one day and then not have enough energy for when the kids get home or for the rest of the week. Much to keep tkihning and pray about.

I was in shock when I heard the news still not much for words. While I didn't know Lyle well enough to call a close freind I knew he was someone you could call on in a time of need and seemed always to want to help. I feel fortunate in that I was able to enjoy a dinner with freinds the other night, it just won't be the same the next time. Lyle introduced me to the italian desert not sure what it really is called. Thanks Lyle
