(Josh Zecher) Censorship in China. Is this news?
Should anyone be surprised that governments are censoring content on the Internet the same exact way that they have been "filtering" information in newspapers, radio and television for decades?
The past week's developments show that despite all of its "tubes," the Internet is a high tech delivery vehicle of content that can be controlled and used for either building freedoms or squashing them.
Today, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton outlined her five key freedoms for the Internet Age which include:
- Freedom of speech and worship online
- Freedom to connect to the Internet anywhere
- Freedom from cyber attacks
These sound awfully familiar to the same freedoms outlined more than 200 years ago by our nation's forefathers.
Human's technological brilliance may prosper and flourish but our foundational challenges remain the same.
I think we must defend Internet freedom. Internet is single place where we have freedom yet....

It always amuses me when people are surprised that corporate entities try and lock things down to their disadvantage. This is the real reason that unfettered capitalism is only really any good for those who are already in the top 1%.

Modern technology and revolutions have made it easier to create authentic and active games. These entertainment games were not as sensible when the real concept was first of all being attempted.
