We've long wondered on these pages when mobile P2P would start seeing the light of day. Frankly, we expected a mobile BitTorrent application to really kick things off, but they, apparently, haven't done much yet. (And, when I asked BitTorrent's Bram Cohen about them at a fall conference, he simply said mobile was a long way off).
It's the humble Bluetooth that is breaking long expected ground and doing from the "more" benign person to person level. From BBC News...
Children are increasingly swapping music via mobile phones, often without realising they can be breaking the law. A survey of almost 1,500 eight to 13-year-olds found almost a third shared music via their mobiles. Children are using the built-in Bluetooth wireless feature of many phones to swap music - but without the consent of copyright holders. Almost a half (45%) of children who said they did not swap music via their phones said they would like to.
See our recent overview on mobile music and the potential for the mobile P2P.
PS: In an entirely unrelated note (we're sure), the long rumored iPhone will seemingly tease a bit longer.
