The money that could go to building a more robust Web that works better for everybody will go instead to lawyers and lobbyists. No one wins then. That's why we say hands off for now; there will be plenty of time for government to step in if and when there is a real problem.
Newmark says:
I realize you're cleverly using Colbertian "truthiness," and I just can't compete with that. Nerds are notoriously literal.
