In a speech in Silicon Valley yesterday, Senator Dianne Feinstein announced her support for increasing the number of visas for high-skilled workers. The Senator has always been a thoughtful voice on the issue of curbing illegal immigration and deserves kudos for strongly supporting the need to raise the H1B visa cap, saying "we have to ensure that we have the best and the brightest people here."
The 463 has special regard for the senior Senator from California and looks forward to working with her to make sure America reaches her goal of having rational immigration policies that work. Microsoft head Bill Gates was right when he says the 65,000 current cap is totally arbitrary. What if we reached the cap and the next one in queue is the next Andy Grove? Do we want to say no, you can't build the next Intel here in the U.S.? That's simply bad policy.
