Funny photos that make there way around the Internet are, well, quite often funny. Photos with cats are unquestionably the funniest.
But, in a very quick lesson on how Blogtopia sometimes works, I just giggled at a Boing Boing post that featured this photo and is headlined: "Toilet sign in Korea warns to be on the lookout for sickos"...
Next to the photo on one of the most popular blogs on the planet, there is this quote pulled from Boing Boing's source OK Future:
"One could reasonably infer from this sign that the Koreans have a major problem with men peeking into women’s toilet stalls."
OK Future had apparently just come across a July 7 post with the photo on the blog beconfused that noted that it had found the photo on Flickr.
The Flickr photo was uploaded by "will_hybrid" on January 7, 2006. He took the picture in April 2005 in Seoul.
A commenter to the Flickr photo wrote four months ago:
The sign says, "Karma 21 YangJae Drive-In Theatre"
YangJae is a neighborhood of Seoul, South Korea.
The sign is just a joke sign indicating where the bathroom is. Nothing more than a perverted cartoon dude sneaking a peak at a cartoon girl.
Just the management's attempt at humor... they want you to know how hip, edgy and irreverent they are.
What's old is quite often new again. And, assuming that that commenter above is correct, quite often wrong again.
