A little more than 11-years-ago, Yahoo! and other big Web sites at the time turned their pages black for 48-hours to protest the signing of legislation that would censor content on the Internet. That effort was ultimately successful in getting a Supreme Court repeal.
Today, Yahoo! and other big Web radio providers are shutting down their services for 24-hours to protest the big performance royalty hike that will take effect July 15 if a last breath congressional effort doesn't stop the speeding train. The Washington Post has a good summary.
